I put off filling my gas tank until last minute, as I always do, and gas went up 9 cents that day. Wait -- that's not the first time that's happened. You'd think I'd learn. But no.
Also, really cute Lillie story to share.
Lillie brings a pretend spoon to the grocery store with us. I don't know if she only does it when she's hungry, or if it's just part of the entertainment, but the pretend spoon comes out whenever she sees something that looks/is tasty, like cereal, crackers, bananas, etc. As I push the cart down the aisle, she swoops her pretend spoon out and grabs a bite, plops it in her mouth and says, "Mmm, nummy!" Then she says, "Bite, Mommy!" and I get to take a bite of her yummy food. It makes me laugh.
So I took the pretend idea and ran with it, and coupled with a suggestion from our daycare provider, Miss Angela, I now put Lillie to bed with a pretend pacifier. She takes it out of my pocket and puts it in her mouth and pretends to suck on it. When she gets up in the morning, she takes it out of her mouth and hands it to me. First time I tried to put it in my pocket, she got really upset though, and said "My pocket! My pacifier!" so we put it in her pretend pocket, since most of her pants don't have pockets. Angela says she takes it out of her pocket every once in a while at daycare!
She seems to really like the idea of having/being a sister. She can say the word, now, and she carried around my ultrasound pictures yesterday almost like she carries around Daddy pictures. This bodes well, I think. Plus she's being so helpful. I think she's finally getting used to daycare, because she wasn't a monster tonight! A little clingy, but not like she has been!
I think part of that is she's used to the routine. We get home, make dinner, sit at the table together and eat, and then Mommy cleans and puts away the dishes and we get in the stroller and go for a walk. Then we eat our dessert. Tonight I introduced a variable, though -- I read her a book after dessert. Then its diaper and bedtime.
But in spite of not wanting to wake up this morning, today turned out to be pretty good. Yay!

I love the pretend pacifier! I just made you throw yours away. Great idea!
